Big corporations like Radisson SAS are accustomed to working with big advertising firms, which generally churn out marginal design. So when they got a taste of the thoughtful commercial art delivered by Mitchel Design, they were floored. Before we knew what was happening, we were holding a contract to handle all advertising and design for Radisson food and beverage in Estonia. All we had to do was sign on the dotted line. Did we? Well, we hit the bottom-drawer whiskey bottle pretty hard that night thinking it over. In the end it was clear: not our style. Because of our inimitable design, conflicts of interest would have required giving up some of our favorite clients. And then we’d also have to hire more staff and pay more taxes and wear more suits and go to more meetings. As we said, not our style.
